about

Gut feels for all the old foolish gets with their aged gregarious fuels, the frail transitioners, the failed transgressors, the foul-mouthed beauties still, the eternally restless fashionistas and the once doomed stylists, the feral poets with two good lines left in their pockets, the fucked up geeks, all money no charm, and all those other strivers and chancers who make up this city of ours, like the mouthy scaffolders, savaged dog walkers, fatberg deconstructionists, lonely librarians, battered care workers, ariel installers, pavement riders, harassed couriers, burned out nurses, sweat shop slaves, supermarket warehousemen, working early hours strip light shift, invisible chauffeurs watching pricks abuse privilege in rear view mirror, inviolable hi vis midnight street sweepers, watchers of CCTV, art galleristas, tired baristas, tireless graffiti artists, the eternal homeless, hostel reception staff, the hostile and harassed, resting actors, abandoned cats, slinking foxes, the old vanishing sparrows, the new flourishing parakeets all the strugglers and stragglers, the lost the lonely the losers, the lovers, foolish gets, gregarious fuels, I have only mad love and gut feels for you all.

lyrics

OUR RAINCOATS
We all knew the night and what it meant to be out there in our raincoats
We walked to each-others homes through alienating zones in our raincoats
And sat around each-others rooms, under bare blue electric bulbs in our raincoats
Listening to vital crucial albums that would last through all of time in our raincoats
We listened to the Raincoats in our raincoats
And we listened to the Passions too
But mostly we were waiting for the Fall
We were always just waiting for the Fall
Distant stars had famous blue raincoats
Ours were faded green from army surplus stores
Dog eared well- thumbed tattered paperbacks in the pockets of our raincoats
We walked through Northern Cities oblivious to the rain in our raincoats
Our raincoats spoke of eternal things but they only lasted a summer
By winter we were wearing bum freezer jackets and end of pier soiled white drill shorts
As we listened to the great white funk of A Certain Ratio and made uncertain adjustments to our lives
